Feb 27 and 28, our department went on an educational voyage to Clark, Pampanga. Its supposed to be educational but whatever. It was definitely fun though. We went to several companies, a weather center, a repair shop, a call center and a broadcasting network. Weehee We also went to this really nice resort named Villa Alfredo. It was really nice to go there and swim in their pools. I cant really say so much cause there are no words to describe it. weehee

The Technozzette (http://www.technozzette.com/) is our thesis which is an online publication specifically for the IT of FEATI. The Science and Technology Expo is about the Pasig River and its Tributaries. Now why is an online publication included in an expo about the Pasig River? Simple, our professor said we should join so we did. Hehe We just added to the description of the site that the site has advertisements and that proceeds of the payment will go to the Commission that rehabilitates the Pasig River. Wahahahaha

So we had the awarding of this year’s intramurals last Monday, February 18, 2008. It was basically a simple awarding, and we found out which of the players won what. So the IT Department / Feati Computer Society got the following:

Scrabble Champion - Me ^_^
Basketball Mythical 5 - JR

It was a bit depressing though, because the council officers said that there will be a cash prize for all the winners, but we didn’t get any. They said that the cash prize will be given later on. I just hope that they will give it and not just forget about it. ~_~

Last February 15, I joined in a scrabble contest in our school. Me and another player, Marlon-niisan, were the players for the IT Department. I honestly didn’t have the slightest idea how the hell scrabble is played, it was my first time to even play it. But why was I even in the contest? It was because of a stupid idea that participating can help boost the IT’s points in the intramurals. You see, the overall winner of the intramurals is counted not with the number of golds thay won but with the games they participated in. For example, If the IT won 4 golds out of 6 contests and didnt join the other 2 games, but the COB won 2 golds out of 6 and joined in all 6 games. The winner will be the COB. So that is why I joined, to add to the number of participants. I didn’t really care if I won or not, what mattered to me was that I joined. Fortunately, scrabble was pretty simple, you just have to form words from the tiles that you get and then place them on the board. The word must be connected to a letter of another word. I guess we were just lucky. Coz in the last part of the final game we were in last place, the other players were 10 to 20 points ahead of us. Fortunately we were able to use up all tiles first. Which means that all the other teams will have to minus their scores with the tiles that they haven’t used and the score of all the tiles they didn’t use were added to our score. So we won. Hihi Talk about sheer dum luck. Heehee

If you are in college and are in the last year of your studies, you are probably finished or finishing your thesis. For me, Im in the latter. The final year of studies is always where the thesis writing is placed because this is where you will show just what you have learned from the past four years of your study of whatever course you have taken. As for me, well I pretty much haven’t learned anything. It’s a headache really, having to make a thesis that you don’t even have the slightest idea how to make. This is partly the fault of our professors who don’t teach and simply don’t hold classes, but im at fault too for depending solely on what they will teach and not rely on my own efforts in order to learn. But its sickening to think that professors and other high people in the school to expect a great thesis when the students aren’t even equipped with the slightest of knowledge on how to make those thesis.

Our thesis is supposed to be a dynamic online publication system, where faculty and students can read and write news and other features about the IT Department of our school. I don’t even know how to make a website! What turned out was a static site that has to be edited in a separate application before being posted on the internet. Yes its actually not even near the concept but the idea is there. It’s an online publication with news minus the part where they can write the articles. There is also the problem of the blog and forum. Our teacher wants a blog and forum, but unfortunately we don’t know how to make one. Its crazy. I just hope we still pass, we just have to sucjk up to the professor’s a bit more and maybe hopefully we will be able to make it through.

Well making the thesis also has its good points, it had been a sort of a learning tool for me. I was really stupid when it came to designing web pages, creating databases, programming in php and all those stuff. If I will be ranked from 1 to 10, I would probably a -5 (negative 5) but after making half of the thesis I can proudly say that now Im a 2. Hihi Ahh! Whatever! This black bag is a handbag. It is mine. I have used it everyday since I bought it. Do you know why I placed it here? Because it is the first time I used a handbag! It a miracle! Weehee
Ever since the beginning of time I have always used a backpack or a body bag. I always stayed away from the handbags coz I thought that they are too girly but later on I ended up using one...

Okay so I have a computer that is already one year and two months old. It is just a simple black and white computer. I say that it is black and white first of all because its monitor is black and the system unit is white. I say it’s simple because it’s only got 256 MB of DDR1 Memory, 80G of hard disk space, 3.2 GHz P4 Processor, DVD Combo Drive and an ECS Motherboard. Not so high end is it? Well at least I am able to do my projects in it and everything else like watch anime movies and episodes, read scanned manga, play RPG and strategy games, among others.

It’s also got a printer that’s also 1 year and two months old and probably because I always refill the cartridge instead of just buying a new one. It’s gotten bonkers after some time and now it doesn’t print normally. Well, normally a printer is able to print in any setting may it be fast draft, normal, best or maximum dpi. But in the case of my printer none of the first three settings work, only maximum dpi works well. If you try to print in any other setting aside from maximum dpi, well you’ll just get a lot of crap. I really want to fix that printer you know.

One time when we were cramming for our documentation and presentation for our thesis defense and we really needed the documents to be printed immediately unfortunately for us the printer won’t cooperate. As I said the printer only works in maximum DPI and maxdpi setting takes 15 minutes to print just one page!. We ended up waiting for the printer to finish the whole document until 9 in the morning. That’s 55 pages of printing that took us the whole night and the rest of the morning. But at least we were able to print the document, even if we weren’t able to get a wink of sleep. If only the printer was working properly at that time we could have finished the document early and got a lot of sleep but alas what is done cannot be undone but still.

So my computer is a very versatile tool in creating all possible things that will be of use by me or anyone in my family or whomever asks. In my case, I make documents, presentations, graphic designs, programs, and movies. It could be related to school or just something I thought up on my own. If I just thought it on my own it is almost always connected with anime or whatever I am interested in at that time. My sister would use the pc for her projects. My brothers will use it to play games. My mom would use the computer for her visual aides and bulletin board decorations, and my father would use the computer for the computation of grades of his students.

So yah, I hope that my computer will be upgraded soon (by my father of course, coz he has the money and I don’t want to spend my money... hihi) and I hope that I won’t need to reformat anytime soon...
