For this Weekend Adventure, we visit Johnny Rockets in Edsa Shangrila to try out their American style burgers.

This is my first time to try out food here at Johnny Rockets, and I'm not really expecting anything. The place is pretty cool tho. Reminds you of diner style booths like the ones you see in old American movies.

Thanks to a voucher from Ensogo, I got to buy a voucher worth P773 for just P95. It's actually supposed to cost P295, but I got another discount from a promo code Ensogo sent me worth 200.
That's almost 90% discount in total!

This is it! The whole shibang. The Half Pound Grand Canyon Burger with Fries and Iced Tea. 

 

This burger has 2 quarter pound imported burger patties, 2 caramelized buns, 2 slices of imported American cheese, crispy strips of bacon, 4 pieces of big onion rings, delicious BBQ Ranch as its main sauce and a dash of Johnny Rockets Secret Seasoning. This burger is awesome sauce. It's amazing. I loved just how juicy the entire thing is. Oil is just oozing out from it's sides and I absolutely loved it. Now I want to try all their other burgers!

The fries are thick cut potatoes with their skin on. They were okay but they were a tad too soft. They weren't crispy. It's like they were an old batch and just refried. A bit disappointing but hey, it's cheap!

Overall, the meal was pretty good. I just wish I can get another voucher like this so I can go back to Johnny Rockets. Otherwise, the burgers are a bit too pricey for a cheapskate like me.

I would love to try the other burgers and the smoothies next time!

For this Holiday Adventure, the Food Explorers visit Felicidad on Maginhawa Street in Quezon City.

When it's a holiday, I usually just go home and play video games the entire day. But this holiday was weird, it was in the middle of the week (on a Thursday) and instead of going home to Cavite then going back to Manila for work the next day, I decided to eat dinner with my sister during her lunch break. Coz she still had work that day. And that's why, this is called a Holiday Adventure, not the usual Weekend Adventure. haha :D

We were planning to eat somewhere else actually, but since that place was full. We decided to eat at the restaurant nearby. And that's how we encountered Felicidad.

Felicidad offers Mexican and Italian style food at affordable rates. 
I wish I tried the Chimichanga. But I didn't T_T

Interesting part of this resto: they have handmade miniature bilao for coasters.

First thing to notice is that the place was quite cute, it's just a small space. They only serve a handful of people at the same time and it was cozy. Next thing is that their menu is quite small. This is a good thing. Coz they can always maintain the quality of the food. But here's the main thing, the food. It was okay, but not thaat good. The chicken was small and depressing and the carbonara was obviously just heated and topped with cheese. It wasn't cooked as I ordered. I really wish I didn't order the Carbonara. *Sigh*

But the Eggplant Parmigiana was pretty darn tasty, so that's something to look forward to. Anyway, considering the price of the food (which was pretty cheap) I guess was expecting a little too much.

Our entire meal, drinks and all, was only under 300 pesos!

Overall, if you want to have a (sort of) affordable meal and pretty decent food at a cozy space, then try Felicidad.

For this Weekday Adventure, the Food Explorers visit Basil Authentic Thai Cuisine in Katipunan.

This restaurant was recommended by my manager +Claire Gustilo and she goes there every now and then. So I thought when I saw the voucher in +Deal Grocer, I had to try it out. But the thing was, I totally forgot about the voucher to the point that it's already the last day to claim it. XD

So I got to talk Andrei into coming with me and then we rode an Uber car to the restaurant. Considering we don't have a car and there is no regular bus that goes through that area, Uber was the best option for us. The place was pretty cool. It has a garden inside and it even has a waterfall indoors and it is very relaxing. It was dimly lit and it's more of a place for a romantic dinner than a friendly hang out. But of course, we we're not on a date. :P

Once there, we ordered just a few things from the menu.

Tom Yum Ta Lay - Spicy Seafood Soup P 298

We didn't get to try a lot of food since the voucher is only worth 1000.

The Spicy seafood was a bit of a let down. The seafood was very minimal, just a few pieces of shrimp, and mushrooms. It's really just the spicy soup. It tasted best while it's warm, so try to finish as much as you can when you get it.

On the other hand both the Bagoong Rice and the Wagyu Beef with basil were winners. The rice was not overcooked, the bagoong ang mango slices gave a sharp contrast. It was just awesome even on its own. But then, you pair it with the wagyu beef and oh my gawd, it was absolutely mind blowing! The beef was really tender, it melts in your mouth. And it was really flavorful. Love it!

Another thing to note, is that it's far from regular bus routes so you either ride a taxi, or uber or hitch a ride with a friend who has a car to get there. :D

Overall, Basil is the kind of restaurant you go to when you're in the mood for tasty beef and delish bagoong rice. It's just a tad pricey. But if you want to try it out, you better shell out. bwahaha
Definitely going back here. Once I see a voucher for it. :D

When BDJ made a teaser of cute makeup products that will be shipped out for the February BDJBox, I got excited.
When the Bellas I met in the Covergirl Soiree guessed that its probably a set of products from Japan, I was even more excited. Japan is always ever the source of cool and cute things.

When I got the box, I wasn't disappointed. XD

I got an entire box of full sized products from Japan. All in the January-February BDJBox.

You just can't help but be happy when you get full sized products from BDJ.  :D

To be honest, I'm not familiar with the brands in the box. Lucido-L, Pixy and Sunkiller are all foreign and new to me. So in the end, when I got over my initial headrush of getting a box full of full sized products, I only ended up using one product. The Bifesta Brightup Cleansing Lotion. Because it's the first time I got a makeup remover from BDJ.

I rarely go out without makeup, it's something common for me nowadays. (Thanks to BDJ of course. Have I mentioned that I've never bought my own make up until I got makeup in the BDJ Box?)
And since I always have makeup on, it's always a chore to clean it all off when the day is done.

The make up I put on my face ranges from just foundation+powder, to foundation+concealer+eyeshadow+waterproof eyeliner+blush+finishing powder (all of them from BDJ)

At the end of the day, usually I just wash my face with a cleanser and water, then use toner to clean off any remaining makeup. But the waterproof eyeliner is a chore to remove. I used to use the eye makeup remover from benefit, but since that's gone I used to keep washing my face to remove the eyeliner. The issue with that is that it takes more effort to clean it off.

Since I got the Bifesta Cleansing Lotion, boy did my life get easier.

Don't let the term "Cleansing Lotion" fool you. It's not a cream or lotion. Bifesta is a water based makeup remover that is fragrance free and light. And it's really easy to use. I've been using it everyday since I got it. :)

Here I am with full makeup on.

Add some pumps of Bifesta cleansing lotion on a cotton pad, then wipe off the makeup.

After wiping half of my face, you will clearly see the difference. It removed the foundation, eyeshadow and eyeliner off the left side of my face. (The difference of the eye makeup is really significant. :D )

Then I wipe over the rest of my face

Now my face is all clean and I can go to sleep. :D

Pros:
*Easy to use: Just pump some on a cotton pad and wipe your face to remove makeup
*Removes all makeup, includes waterproof eye makeup
*Doesn't sting, you can swipe around your eyes to remove eyeliner without hurting em (versus the Benefit eye makeup remover. If that gets in your eyes while cleaning off makeup you better run to the closest sink and wash it off quick! It hurts!)
*Fragrance free, although it won't bother me even if it did have a scent
*Just a small amount is enough per use. I got my bottle mid Feb and after almost three weeks of daily use, I only used up maybe 20% of it.

Cons:
*Nothing really. But I'm not sure how the Brightup feature works. I don't see a brightening effect on my face after using it.

Overall, this Bifesta Cleansing Lotion is definitely something that should be part of your beauty regimen. At least when you're feeling lazy. It's a one step makeup removal product that is worth it's price. It's fairly affordable considering you get a 300 ml bottle for just around P400. And with that, this 7 day challenge is complete. :D

For this Weekday Adventure, the Food Explorers go all the way to Greenhills to try out Huat Pot All You Can Eat Hot Pot Restaurant.

Huat Pot is located on the 2nd floor of the Metropoint Centre Mall in Greenhills. It's actually in an area sprinkled by a lot of other eat all you can restaurants. (If you change your mind, you can easily go to another restaurant) :D

We went there around lunch time and upon entering the restaurant we were ushered to the hot pot area. It's where the tables had a hot pot in the middle.

We sat by the window

They also have tabes that accommodate large groups.

Once we sat down, the waitress asked us for the flavor of the broth we'll use for the hot pot. We selected the bbq flavored broth and the Huat Pot Special Broth. Once we had the broth selected, we set off to grab as much stuff as we can.

So they had some raw meat, seafood, and some taho. There are also frozen balls and veggies.

They also had unlimited drinks. You can get soda, juice or coffee.

And the most important part of the restaurant, the ice cream freezer where you can grab as much Magnum as you can! :D

They also had some cooked meat that you can eat for the meantime while waiting for your raw food to cook in the boiling broth.

We just got a little bit of everything from the freezers and went back to find a bubbling pot filled with the two flavors of broth we ordered.

We got shrimp, dory, veggies, squid balls, corn etc. 

On to the comments of the restaurant. The service was weird. Well, they have this habit of grabbing any plate/spoon you're not using from your table. Which is weird for me, because I use the empty plate for the shells of the shrimp and other stuff I don't want on the plate that Im eating on.

Aside from that weirdness tho, everything else was fine. They refilled our water promptly. but that's basically it. They don't really do much for you since you're the one leaving your seat and grabbing food from the freezers.

The food was okay. But the choices were limited. Also, the broth didn't taste that good. So I just ate the seafood and fish balls. I guess that's mainly why I didn't get too full after eating there, because you eat mostly veggies and seafood and not much carbs. Honestly, it didn't feel like I ate at a buffet because we only ate veggies and seafood. I felt lighter after eating here compared to when I ate a buffet at yakimix.

The main selling point of this place is the Unlimited Magnum. Even the Official Magnum bar doesn't have that option. But there's only one type of Magnum, Almond flavor. And after eating one bar, you're already full. We still got to eat 2 bars each tho. It's cool.

Nakadalawa lang ako sa Unlimited Magnum. Hehehe

Just one more qualm I have with the place is that the location is hard to get to. I mean, if Uber wasn't available, I'd have to take a friggin taxi to get here. And I don't like taxis (coz of taxi horror stories I heard, and the "no sukli" moments) even to commute to the place is a chore. Soooooo, I'm probably not going back to this resto anytime in the near future. But it was one heck of a meal. :D
